Introduction

How CloudImage works

CloudImage rebuilds bare-metal Windows devices over the internet - ideal for ransomware recovery, refreshes, and new-device provisioning. A deployment has two phases.

The two phases

WinPE phase - the device boots CloudImage WinPE from USB, ISO, or the LAN (see Network Boot). It partitions the disk, downloads and applies the Windows image, and injects drivers.

First-boot phase - the device reboots into the new Windows install and runs post-setup steps: tweaks, application and Office installs, registry changes, scripts, and Entra ID / Intune enrolment.

End-to-end flow

  1. Upload content - OS image, drivers, and applications, at the right scope (Platform / MSP / Tenant).
  2. Build a Task Sequence - the ordered list of steps.
  3. Create Boot Media - a USB or ISO tied to the customer.
  4. Boot the device and deploy - then watch it live in Monitoring.

On-site infrastructure (optional)

For sites imaging many machines at once (mass ransomware recovery, refresh waves), deploy a Site Server to cache content on the LAN and optionally network-boot devices with no USB (PXE). Every deployment also benefits from automatic peer caching between devices on the same subnet.
